NOT PRESENT: Nancy Duncan and Len Eaton.
MINUTES: Fred Haynes moved
that the minutes of the October Board meeting be accepted as presented. Diane Parham seconded; motion carried.
ACTE AWARDS ACTE National award
nominations are due by May 2005. OACTE
awards will need to be structured to ACTE standards for nominations at our
April 2005 conference and submitted for nomination to
ACTE in May 2006.
LEGISLATION: Fred Haynes gave a report
on Legislative Bill LC926, Career and Technical Education Capacity Assessment.
The bill is on hold, waiting for ODE feedback to determine the future of the
bill. Fred will keep the Board informed
on the status of the bill.
The
2005-06 Perkins Reauthorization is being held in the Senate. The funds
will be the same with more allotments. Look for increased accountability
measures.
The Board requested
that Thelma research the possibility of reactivating the Political Action
Committee account.
Fred reported that
the PTE Deans have expressed concern that OACTE is not taking a more active
state leadership role by aligning with the National ACTE model. A discussion was held on the history of the
now defunct Oregon Vocational Assoc., which was the umbrella organization for
CONFERENCE: Theme: "Making
Connections"
Keynotes: Dr. Keim for Thursday's opening session and
Joe DeMartino were the top choices. Tami Ruter will be attending a conference to
listen to Joe DiMartino and will then make her recommendation to the Board by December 10.. Funding for Dr.
Keim and Joe Martino will need to be secured prior to contracting for their
services. Jim Schoelkopf will discuss
funding options with Teresa Levy at the ODE.
The Board approved a
conference fee of $230 for registrations prior to February 17, 2005, and $245
for registration after that date. $265 for on-site
registration. Thelma will draft a
flyer to be sent out prior to the winter break to past conference attendees.
Session planners need
to be in to Thelma by December 1st or the session title at the very minimum.
