ACTE AWARDS                    ACTE National award nominations are due by May 2005.  OACTE awards will need to be structured to ACTE standards for nominations at our April 2005 conference and submitted for nomination to ACTE in May 2006.

LEGISLATION:                      Fred Haynes gave a report on Legislative Bill LC926, Career and Technical Education Capacity Assessment. The bill is on hold, waiting for ODE feedback to determine the future of the bill.  Fred will keep the Board informed on the status of the bill.

The 2005-06 Perkins Reauthorization is being held in the Senate. The funds will be the same with more allotments. Look for increased accountability measures.

The Board requested that Thelma research the possibility of reactivating the Political Action Committee account.

Fred reported that the PTE Deans have expressed concern that OACTE is not taking a more active state leadership role by aligning with the National ACTE model.  A discussion was held on the history of the now defunct Oregon Vocational Assoc., which was the umbrella organization for Oregon professional organizations.  OCCVA assumed the role as liaison with ACTE but the remaining professional organizations chose to continue on their own.

CONFERENCE:                     Theme: "Making Connections"

Keynotes:  Dr. Keim for Thursday's opening session and Joe DeMartino were the top choices.  Tami Ruter will be attending a conference to listen to Joe DiMartino and will then make her recommendation to the Board by December 10..  Funding for Dr. Keim and Joe Martino will need to be secured prior to contracting for their services.  Jim Schoelkopf will discuss funding options with Teresa Levy at the ODE.

The Board approved a conference fee of $230 for registrations prior to February 17, 2005, and $245 for registration after that date. $265 for on-site registration.  Thelma will draft a flyer to be sent out prior to the winter break to past conference attendees.

Session planners need to be in to Thelma by December 1st or the session title at the very minimum.

NEXT MEETING:                   Friday, Feb. 4, Linn-Benton Community College, 10am-2pm, unless the Board determines that an earlier meeting is necessary.

Fred will make the arrangements for the February meeting.
